Bates Eyelets

When you talk about paper fasteners, the conversation must start with the eyelet press or as they were called back in the day, the eyelet machine. Used to fasten documents together before the stapler was invented. The  eyelet press was invented and marketed in 1854. The AJAX Fastener with the automatic slide in 1916. Finally the Bates M40 style in 1923 that we know today. GBC Purchased Bates in early 2000 the quickly close the company and discontinued the eyeleteer in 2006.
